Mr. John Cleveland

John Cleveland is President and co-founder of the Innovation Network for Communities (INC), a national non-profit organization whose mission is to develop and spread scalable innovations that transform the performance of community systems. INC works in three primary sectors: urban sustainability; high performing urban K-12 school; and adult workforce development.
John also serves on a part time basis as the Executive Director for the Boston Green Ribbon Commission, a group of 34 business and civic leaders supporting the implementation of the City of Boston’s Climate Action Plan.
Prior to founding the Innovation Network for Communities, John served as Vice President of IRN, Inc., a market intelligence firm located in Grand Rapids, MI, that provided strategic planning, market research, automotive forecasting, and merger and acquisition due diligence to mid-sized manufacturing companies. John has also worked as a private consultant, as director of Continuous Improvement for Grand Rapids Community College, and as director of the State of Michigan’s industrial extension service.
John has written extensively on a broad range of subjects, including systems theory, learning theory, organizational change, sustainable development; innovation, continuous improvement, and world class manufacturing strategy.
John graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in City Planning from Yale University.
