Improve Energy Use in Core Operations

(resize font)

There are many opportunities to take simple steps to improve the energy performance of your buildings and core operations, while reducing energy costs.

You can start by making simple requests of all employees and volunteers. These can come in the form of an incentivized program, or by simply asking for employee volunteers in each office to serve as energy captains.

Improving energy use is as easy as asking employees to turn off the lights when they are not in use. It includes putting appliances, machines and computers on timed power, or implementing the use of smart power strips that prevent these same appliances from using power even when they are turned off. It may also include setting building thermostats to use energy more efficiently in warmer and colder seasons (68 degrees in the winter, and 72 degrees in the summer). Find out the many things you can do to inspire employees to improve energy use with these helpful resources, below.
